
Léo Vermot-Desroches completed his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, graduating with a master’s degree awarded with the highest honours, “Très Bien à l’unanimité avec les Félicitations du jury”. In 2024, he was nominated at the Victoires de la Musique Classique in the “Révélation” category. Winner of the 2023 edition of the Voix Nouvelles Competition at the Opéra Comique, where he received the Second Prize, he had previously been awarded both the First Opera Prize and the First Mélodie Prize at the International Marmande Singing Competition in 2020. He has also been distinguished in several other competitions, including Froville, Canari and Arles.
He has appeared in roles such as Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Salzburg Festival, where he stepped in to replace Benjamin Bernheim; Alfredo in La Traviata at the Opéra de Tours; Arbace in Idomeneo at the Opéra de Nancy; the Chevalier Des Grieux in an adaptation of Massenet’s Manon at the operas of Saint-Étienne, Vichy and Massy; Camille in Lehár’s La Veuve Joyeuse at the Opéra de Marseille; Juliano in Le Domino Noir at the Opéra Comique; and Nicias in Thaïs in Saint-Étienne. He has also performed Julien in an adaptation of Charpentier’s Louise at the Opéra Comique, Leopold in Benatzky’s L’Auberge du Cheval Blanc at the Opéra de Marseille, Truffaldino in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges at the Opéra de Nancy, and Peppe in Donizetti’s Rita ou le Mari Battu at the Opéra de Tours. His recital appearances include the Chorégies d’Orange, the Château de Chambord, the Théâtre de Compiègne and the Opéra Royal de Versailles.
For the 2025–2026 season, he will notably be heard as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, as Edgard in Donizetti’s Lucie de Lammermoor at the Opéra-Comique, as the Chevalier de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites at the Opéra de Lausanne and the Opéra de Marseille, and as Tybalt in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. In concert, he will be heard at the Philharmonie de Paris in an unpublished aria from Ravel’s Sémiramis, and will give a recital at the Royaumont Abbey alongside organist Lucile Dollat.
